stART - The Snowy Day
Last week I was able to get the book, The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats from our library. It is such an adorable book about a little boy who discovers snow outside his window one day. After enjoying our own snowy day we used this book for our stART project.
We took white paint and mixed it with some flour (I didn't measure this out, I just mixed until it was a nice consistency).
Then, I put the paint mixture on a piece of blue construction paper and smoothed it out to look like a covering of snow.
Daddy went outside to get a stick for our project. When he came back, Bekah went to town making tracks in the "snow".
We also took some of her animals and made footprints in the snow. She really had fun with this!

We have that book in Spanish and we love it too! That is a giant snowman that you guys made. You must have a ton of snow. I've never heard of mixing the glue with flour. Is it still very sticky?
ReplyDeleteAdriana.....yes, we did get quite a bit of snow. I'm so sorry, but it wasn't glue and flour....it was white paint and flour. Whoops! That's what I get for trying to do more than one thing at a time!
ReplyDeleteLooks like she had lots of fun with her snow art!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun project to go along with that book! I have been meaning to read it with Emily, I can't wait to get it and try this project too :0) Thank you for linking up.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a fun project my son would enjoy. May have to use it with my snow theme next week.
ReplyDeleteWe love this book - what a great idea to make a "fake snow" at home and the tracks. We did salt tracks in the past when we read about animal tracks.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. I think my kids would really enjoy playing with flour snow.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! It's a great book and making tracks is a fun extension. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSo clever mixing the flour and paint, I will have to try that. LOVE that book too!
ReplyDeleteLove her little face! You can see she is enjoying herself sooo much! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteFlour-paint snow does sound like fun and not as cold! We spent part of yesterday playing in real snow and making tracks.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome idea! My kids love this book and this would be great! If only we could find a stick under this 3 feet or so of snow...
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a lot of fun! Great project :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the footprints in the snow - very clever - your daughter looks like she enjoyed it! We are doing "snow" this week, I may have to borrow your idea. Thanks!
